Take Your Cat to the Vet Day

Take Your Cat to the Vet Day
Annual veterinarian exams are an essential component to the overall wellbeing of your animal companion. From early detection of disease to a better sense of health baselines, these visits should simply be a basic part of our roles as guardians.

Why is it, then, that 83% of cats visit the veterinarian before their 1st birthday, but over 50% don’t return until they become sick or are in pain? Dogs, on the other hand, are twice as likely to be seen for an annual exam! I think there are a few factors to bear in mind: Cats are much better at masking pain and discomfort than dogs, and just as importantly, cat guardians feel like they are traumatizing their cat by taking a trip to the vet. Don't let this be a reason to compromise your cat's wellbeing!

Start by watching my video about getting your cat more comfortable with their carrier. If your cat is especially nervous, it's ok to ask your vet for a mild sedative. You can also consider a housecall vet. There are solutions to be found so that you can celebrate National Take Your Cat To The Vet Day by...taking your cat to the vet!
